So I finally found a use for the APC Key 25 as a strumming device (at least until the Launchpad Pro comes out. And of course, one can apply his own effects to the track. GS-2 has a wide timbral range, since it is not based on samples, but there are extensive presets and they can be tweaked as well as effects included (I turned off all the effects and eq on their Flamenco model, and it actually sounds better, to my ears).

Unfortunately, neither program has MIDI out for the guitar chord voicings, so you can't experiment with other instruments.

The result works well for Flamenco (and also works for Real Guitar, except the strum keys are at C5). The chord recognition works great for Major (one finger), Minor, and dominant 7th (two finger) and the more complex chords form consistent patterns on the Push matrix, so playing chord progressions is easy, even in Flamenco compas. I then set the Push to chromatic which allows me to set the scale to E Phrygian and the pitch to the low E of the guitar.

Although there are only up/down strokes I can imitate Flamenco rasgueo (pami) by using a Scale devices set at C4 (c5 for real guitar) in a separate strumming track (if you want to separate the strumming), with all the white strum keys set to the down stroke). My current configuration is to use the Push to change chords, and my APC Key 25 for strumming. I've had a bit more time to exercise the GS-2, and have discovered that although the stand-alone version is limited, as a VST in Live it really shines.
